Snatch Land Rover

Families of those killed in Snatch Land Rovers, as well as injured soldiers, wish to call upon Defence Secretary John Sutton to instigate an independent public inquiry into the use of the Snatch Land Rover in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Since 2003 there have been complaints that Snatch are too lightly armoured to provide adequate protection, however the MOD continues to send soldiers out in them.

38 soldiers have lost their lives in them, with many more injured. In order to put pressure on the Secretary of State please support this demand for a public inquiry.

  1. I wonder who does their insurance.

  2. One way round this problem would be to not get involved in unwinnable conflicts in other people’s countries in support of dodgy regimes, and based on dubious legal foundations.

  3. Or let the politicians and civil servants who make the purchasing decisions try them out first.

  4. In action…. good idea.

Like in days of old, when men were bold, etc..

When the head of state used to lead his troops into battle. I suspect we’d have a few less wars if the decision makers had to actually be there themselves.

Tony Bleurgh may well have copped a quick bayonet up the ballot box from his own troops though… in the heat of battle and all that; collateral damage, friendly fire, call it what you will.

    Nice bloke.

  5. Or maybe we could de-risk the whole business.

If country A picks a brawl with country B. Could their respective leaders not be shut in a room together, and be forced to play Kerplunk, Buckaroo and Connect4 until a winner was declared?

Or ‘Battleships’ instead of yer actual naval activity?

  6. Or we put them in a camp in the jungle doing tasks and TV veiwers could vote for one of them to do a horrible task, or be booted off ;)

  7. Didn’t the Japanese have an early version of that in WWII?

The task was building a railway, and getting the boot was literal.

  8. ah yes – back in the days when men were men and water torture was water torture. ;)

  9. I’d better apologise to duncan at this point.

We’ve just managed to degenerate his serious plea, to the level of some of the worst that TV has to offer.

  10. You never apologise to me when you do it to my posts.

  11. what? …and risk my reputation.

  12. I think it is disgraceful the way our Troops go into battle ill prepared with
equipment and David Milliband want”s to send a couple of thousand to the
Congo. Let the European Union send them, 26 Countries should be able to
    manage that between them!!!!!!

The Labour Government, read Tony Blair, has been involved in more wars
    than any this Century.
