Leaving things well alone.

by NobblySan

skyn_homeimageAs per usual on a Saturday morning if  I’ve got the house to myself,  I switch the radio to Planet Rock.

This morning, the DJ  announced that he was about to play the latest single from the re-formed Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Having long (or short, in my case) been a fan of Skynyrd, I turned up the radio…

What a mistake!

The latest single is the title track of the new album ‘God and Guns’, and is so commercially formulaic, full of jingoistic lyrics and corny riffs that I honestly thought I was listening to -(gulps and takes deep breath)- Nickleback.

Gimme Three Steps, Freebird, or Poison Whisky this most certainly is not.

What a dreadful way to pull the rug out from under the legacy of a damn fine band.

Luckily the station redeemed itself shortly afterwards by playing Wishing Well by Free, and I turned the volume back up again.

  1. Ouch, sounds awful. I’ll give it a miss.
