According to the Bible, we are to love our neighbours.
Sometimes this is easier said than done.
Particulary when the neighbour in question -
a. kidnaps your 3-legged cat and
b. tries to poison you with slug pellets
Residents in Denton, Manchester say that when Gary Stewart and his partner, Paul Kleisier, first moved in to the area they were model neighbours who got on with everyone. Over time, however, that changed and they became vindictive and argumentative with other residents.
A particular target for Gary’s vindictiveness were his immediate neighbours, Marie Walton and Beverley Sales. According to other residents, Gary waged a campaign of harassment against Ms Walton and Ms Sales, including – it is alleged – kidnapping their 3-legged cat and dumping it 3 miles away.
Matters came to a head – and Gary Stewart was arrested – when a curry he presented to the young women as a ‘peace offering’ was found to contain slug pellets.
The women called the police and Stewart was arrested.
At the Magistrates Court in Manchester, he denied a charge of attempted murder but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of trying to poison the two women.
He is now awaiting sentence (and presumably social and psychiatric reports !!!)
