Gobble, gobble – er, maybe

by duncanr

turkeyBad news, folks.

It’s not long now till Xmas and it looks like some of you carnivores out there are going to be stuffed.

Yup, well and truly stuffed!

Seems like when the recession hit, major stores anticipated less folk would be able to afford a turkey dinner at Xmas and so reduced the number of turkeys on order with their suppliers by 15-20%.

Now The Grocer magazine reckons the stores may have underestimated demand and there won’t be enough turkeys to satisfy every one who wants one at Xmas.

Source . . .

Those unable to get a turkey for their Xmas dinner this year may well need to consider an alternative source of meat . . .

  1. For some reason of grace, I can’t open the piccy link, the title says enough!

The main reason for this announcement is to help shift the existing stock of frozen turkeys from the supermarkets and make space for the next load. Tesco Extra in Newcastle-on-Tyne had many dozens last week, saw them meself. And Longton the week before. (Yep, I’ve been to big shops twice in last 3 weeks, for the first time since April!!!!!!!!!!!)
