Scary Santa Makeover

by duncanr

A New Zealand Santa has been given an expensive facelift to stop him scaring the kiddiewinks.

The 20 metre tall fibreglass Santa first welcomed children in Aukland in 1960 but is now showing his age

Originally, one of his eyes winked in a friendly manner and a mechanical fiinger beckoned to the kiddies in a ‘ho, ho, ho come and sit on my lap’ kind of way.

But the years have not been kind to him – the winking eye had started to droop and as for that waving finger . . .

“There was a concern the guy did look a little creepy. It was the finger and the Sad Sack, winking, droopy eye,” said a local official

So, for the last few months the Santa has been getting an expensive facelift (the bandages are due to be removed from his face on Sunday) and the waving finger has been replace by a rigid digit

Hhmm, not sure a ‘rigid digit’ will convey the warm welcoming greeting council officials intend !!!
