With the area generally acknowledged to be at most risk of bushfires, firefighters responded quickly when a householder reported a smell of gas.

Two fire-engines carrying 15 fire-lighters rushed to a house in Axedale, NSW, but when they arrived there 10 minutes later there was no fire.

And the smell of gas ? – Pig Farts !!!

The householders were keeping a pig about 20 m for the house.

Country Fire Authority captain Peter Harkins said –

“I don’t know what they were feeding this thing but we certainly heard it.”

“We did hose it down a little bit. It was a little bit on the nose,”
