Oh, for Fucks Sake !!!

by duncanr

Two items in the news recently that caught my eye

First, the store that withdrew from sale a piece of soap on a string because ONE elderly couple complained the soap (shaped like ‘Jesus’ – if Jesus was a real man he almost certainly looked nothing like the soap figurine!!!) offended their faith

Second, a store withdrew from sale a Xmas Card because ONE woman complained the message ‘Santa loves all kids. Even Ginger ones’ was offensive

Is a single complaint enough now to have Stores falling over themselves to pull products from their shelves lest it offend someone?

Jeez, it’s a good job ‘blondes’, ‘mother-in-laws’, ‘fat people’, ‘skinny people, ‘short people’, ‘tall people’, ‘people who wear specs’, ‘Scots’, ‘Irish’, ‘Vegetarians’, ‘lesbians’, ‘gays’, ‘drunks’, ‘politicians’, ‘police’, ‘priests’ have got a sense of humour otherwise there wouldn’t be a seaside picture postcard (for example) left on a shelf anywhere !!!

What next? Ban comedians from poking fun at any group of people lest someone, somewhere takes offense?

  1. Duncan. Welcome to Britland 2010! Yep, we are well and truly fecked!

  2. I take offence at Duncan’s insistance on spelling offence the American way.

  3. Political correctness has permeated every area of our lives. You can’t do or say anything anymore without someone complaining that it’s offensive to them. If I say “Merry Christmas”, someone is offended. We don’t have Christmas parties anymore, now we have office holiday parties because if you call it a Christmas party, some atheist or Jew is offended. But by doing so, aren’t we offending those who use the word “Christmas”?

There are people who are so wrapped up in political correctness that they wake up every day looking for something that will offend them. And if they don’t find something, they go to bed disappointed that they weren’t offended.

These overly sensitive people need to get a life.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

  4. Urgh, I have had to pull a post off my blog yesterday with threats of legal action blahahahaha. The post in question has less than 150 hits (and most of them were from him). He is dude suing Google for allowing links to websites that connect him to the Melbourne underworld.
