Two items in the news recently that caught my eye
First, the store that withdrew from sale a piece of soap on a string because ONE elderly couple complained the soap (shaped like ‘Jesus’ – if Jesus was a real man he almost certainly looked nothing like the soap figurine!!!) offended their faith
Second, a store withdrew from sale a Xmas Card because ONE woman complained the message ‘Santa loves all kids. Even Ginger ones’ was offensive
Is a single complaint enough now to have Stores falling over themselves to pull products from their shelves lest it offend someone?
Jeez, it’s a good job ‘blondes’, ‘mother-in-laws’, ‘fat people’, ‘skinny people, ‘short people’, ‘tall people’, ‘people who wear specs’, ‘Scots’, ‘Irish’, ‘Vegetarians’, ‘lesbians’, ‘gays’, ‘drunks’, ‘politicians’, ‘police’, ‘priests’ have got a sense of humour otherwise there wouldn’t be a seaside picture postcard (for example) left on a shelf anywhere !!!
What next? Ban comedians from poking fun at any group of people lest someone, somewhere takes offense?
