Youtube Appeal for Stay of Execution

Jeffrey David Matthews is set to be executed on Aug 17.

He has spent the last 16 years in prison convicted of the murder of his uncle, Otis Earl Short, during a burglary.

Mathews has always protested his innocence. He claims . . .

He was not present when his uncle was burgled and killed, that 2 people can provide him with an alibi.

There is no DNA or fingerprint evidence linking him to the crime.

There are unidentified fingerprints in the case that may point to the ‘real’ killer that have yet to be followed up

Tracy Dyer, also convicted of the death of Otis Earl Short during a bungled burglary, claims Matthews was not the man who helped him commit the crime

Mike Mars, the cop who arrested Mathews believes him to be innocent

One of the jurors who originally found him guilty has said they would not reach the same verdict if they were to be judging him now.

With time running out, Matthews has – in an unusual move – posted a video on YouTube directly appealing to the Governor to grant a stay of execution and a review of the evidence against him

  1. Very moving Duncan. I don’t know much but I know a death penalty is wrong and barbaric. And justice is fickle sometimes.

  2. This man didn’t commit the crime. I know that sounds blunt, but that’s how I feel.
