Thursday was a Red Letter Day.
As some of you know, I have 4 dogs. An old labrador/Staffie crossbreed bitch (Ceilidh), a Jack Russell male (about 4yr old), and two 4 month old female Jack Russell pups (Susie & Spice).
Introducing the pups to the two older dogs has not been easy . . .
Ceilidh is old and cranky now and just wants a peaceful life – a slow wander round the park on ageing legs, a bit of food, and then a doze in her favoured spot by the side of the sofa. She has not taken kindly to being awoken from a doze by two boisterous puppies jumping all over her, and both pups now bear the scars from her teeth.
Wee Rab is a great big softy around people but an aggressive little bugger towards other dogs. Let him off the lead in the park and he is immediately scanning the horizon looking for a dog to charge at (and he doesn’t care how big the f*ckers are). His dislike of other dogs has not deterred the pups, though. They have latched on to him and constantly ‘mob’ him trying to get him to play with them or to lick his face. The more he snarls and snaps at them, the more they persist – determined to befriend him. And yesterday there were signs that they were finally wearing him down
As I was getting ready to leave for work in the morning I found Susie had wormed her way into his bed. Then, later that night as I was putting the pups in their cage before retiring to my own bed, I turned round to fetch Spice, only to find the little minx had snuck into Rab’s bed – and he had let her !!!
I think Rab is beginning to accept what every man finds out to his cost – what a woman wants, a woman gets !!!
P.S. Click on Pics to enlarge (the one with Susie is not very good quality ‘cos it was taken with my camera phone)
