Some years ago I treated Mrs D to a night out at the theatre
She was not too keen on my choice of event – a musical/dance/comedy telling the history of the Bollywood film industry.
She was even more dubious to find we were amongst the few non-asians in the audience.
Once it started, however, she was enraptured and thoroughly enjoyed it
There is an Asian grocery store/off-licence right next to the theatre. When the show was over, I nipped in there to buy a couple of bottles of wine, leaving Mrs D waiting outside.
I should have been gone no more than 5 minutes
Around 15 minutes later I emerged, clutching the bottles in my fists and muttering imprecations
‘Fucken bastards. Couldn’t get bloody served. They were all too busy jibber-jabbering in fucken Hindi to some auld geezer at the front of the queue
What did he look like? asked Mrs D
‘Scruffy git’, I replied
Pair of trainers, dark trousers (probably pissed-stained), manky raincoat. Looked like a right pervert.
“Did he have a beard?” asked Mrs D
“yes”, I replied
“Like this?”, said she – holding up a copy of her souvenir programme from the show we had just watched
Yup, you’ve guessed it. The geezer I was slagging off – the ‘pervert’ – was none other than the star of the show, and the guy with the two-toned beard – Amitabh Bachchan

No,was too embarrassed – in case he or someone else had overheard my remarks.
We scuttled off round the corner, instead, to the nearby ‘chinatown’ area of the city and ‘hid’ in the first restaurant we came across

hahah aww. he’s a really nice man (from what I’ve heard)….I am sure he would’ve been pleased to meet his fans!!
