   Your financial details could be made available to undesirables, and arbitrary amounts of money taken from your account and used for nefarious purposes over which you have no control or influence.

   Or you could try the scammer’s link instead.

   Ha, the Inland Revenue (I.R.) inviting you to apply for a refund of overdue tax ?

   I would have spotted this as a scam straight away

   My first job after leaving school was as a shelf-packer (general skivvy) at my local Co-Op. When I got fed up with that (about 6 weeks) I packed it in and became a Tax Officer with the Inland Revenue for a couple of years until I got fed up with that too. One of the first things I learned was that if it came to your attention that someone had not paid enough tax then you went after them to recover it. If, on the other hand, you noticed that someone had paid too much tax and was owed a refund you did bugger all about it unless they themselves suspected they were due a refund and applied for one !

   Of course, I am talking about the late 60′s so working practices in the I.R. may have changed since those far off days . . . but somehow I don’t think so !

   I didn’t know that you’d worked for the other side?

   …and to think that I was embarrassed about having once been an insurance salesman. Not a very good one though; I’m proud to say that I got sacked for being shit at it.
