Bears are so cute–I can see why so many people approach them. They just don’t look like they’re capable of breaking your neck, or ripping your guts out.
There was a young man who was seriously disfigured by a grizzly, and had to have lots of plastic surgery to get back to normalcy. Of course, he didn’t hold it against the bear, he knew the bear didn’t know his intentions. But what struck me as genuinely admirable was this: the young man got a tattoo of a fierce grizzly as a souvenir of his encounter. I don’t know why, but I just thought that was so cool.
