Something for the Weekend – No 19

by The Madhatters

She’s not the best of singers but this song has a place on my iPod. It’s one I play when I’m feeling a tad melancholy

[Be patient. There's a long intro. She doen't start to sing until around the 1.50 mark]

P.S. I doubt many folk visiting madhatters have heard of Charlotte before but I’m certain you’ll all know the song made famous by her mum and dad

Don’t forget, if you want to listen again to previous weekend songs, go to the ‘category filter’ on the side bar and select ‘something for weekend’ from the drop down list

  1. and here’s Charlotte’s parents

  2. No video, but I just wanted everyone to know that “I came on Eileen.”

  3. Something to blow your brains out to, if you’re feeling more than a tad melancholy:

Beautiful song, though. Unfortunately not good quality, but the original isn’t a good recording.

  4. Oh, alright then . . !

    • Don’t know this version, but the one by the Searchers was a musical highlight of my childhood, so it’s my favourite. However, I really like the Petty/Nicks rendition.

  5. I thought that sounded familiar. Yeah, Serge Gainsbourg had some great music–I have a double CD of his which includes one of my favorite song sequences: I call it the “Melody Nelson” sequence.
