It’s not nice to laugh at the embarrassment, discomfort of others but perhaps a small smile is permissible at this news . . .
As a rising star in Hungary’s far-right Jobbik Party, Csanad Szegedi was notorious for his incendiary comments on Jews: He accused them of “buying up” the country, railed about the “Jewishness” of the political elite and claimed Jews were desecrating national symbols.

A tad awkward then for Szegedic to discover he, himself, is a Jew.
Szegedi’s mother and grandparents were Jewish – his grandmother surviving Auschwitz while . . . his grandfather survived labor camps – but they decided to keep their Jewishness a secret from their children and grandchildren.
[Hhmmm, wonder if they ever questioned the wisdom of that decision as they listened to Szegedi's neo-nazi views and watched him rise in the ranks of the far-right Jobbik Party ?]
Anyways, having discovered his Jewish roots, Szegedi has changed his views and now thinks Jews are quite nice people really. He has sought instruction from a local Rabbi, is planning to visit Auschwitz, and has apologised to the Jewish community for calling them “lice-infested, dirty murderers” – he was just kidding, honest !
