Abdel Basset al-Megrahi is Dead

Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, the only man to be convicted of the bombing of a Pan Am aeroplane over Lockerbie in Scotland has died

Megrahi, who was suffering from cancer, was released from a Scottish prison in 2009 and returned to Libya when doctors advised his life expectancy to be around 3 months

While many friends and relatives of those who lost their lives in the bombing will be glad to hear Megrahi is finally dead, some relatives of the victims have always doubted Megrahi’s guilt and will see his death as a blow to their hopes of ever uncovering the truth behind the bombing

Do a Google search and you will find any number of sites that will give you that information.

The one that I have bookmarked, however, for it’s simplicity, ease of use, and it’s visual presentation of the data is everytimezone.com

Facebook Foolishness ?

Facebook is a very successful social network – the numbers of registered users testifies to that

But is it a business worth investing in?

Does it make economic sense to buy shares at their current value?

Where is Facebooks income (and your profit if you bought shares) going to come from ?

1. the size of their user base may attract . . .companies to advertise their goods and services on the site. However, even before the IPO launch, some major advertisers were cancelling their advertising spend with Facebook since they had seen no measurable increase in sales as a result of advertising on the site

2. that leaves you, the user. Selling your details to other companies is not going to yield sustainable long-term profit. It is a one-off transaction and runs the risk of turning users away from the site if they find themselves unwillingly targeted by companies to whom Facebook has sold their details. More likely, users will soon be charged for using Facebook services they currently enjoy for free – again, with the risk of turning folk away from the site

As always, those Taiwanese animators are bang on the mark

Invisible Art : Money for Nothing

Call me a philistine if you will – [I've been called a lot worse than that] – but a lot of what is referred to as ‘art’ these days is, in my opinion, a load of shite.

And some of the ‘works’ created by modern artists are, I’m convinced, just them having a laugh – taking the piss out of the ‘posers’ who claim to be ‘experts’

Take, for instance, a new exhibition at London’s Hayward Gallery of ‘invisible’ art.

Punters (suckers) will be charged £8 a time to look at . . .a plinth with nothing on it, or a blank piece of paper, or . . . well you get the picture. The pillocks are expected to pay good money to see f*ck all !

The sad thing is that there will be some pretentious prats that’ll fall for the claptrap that ‘invisible’ art is ‘about setting our imaginations alight’

Me ?

I ‘see’ invisible art as a con whereby lazy-arsed piss artists earn a lot of money for doing bugger all.

But like I said – I’m a philistine !
