A True Friend (?)

by duncanr

Dan Dan

Dan Dan

Zhang Yuemei has been diagnosed with encephalomyelitis, a disease of the brain and spinal chord. To make matters worse, she has no money for the treatment, without which she will deteriorate into a vegetative state. Nor do her parents have money to afford the surgery fees and follow-up treatment expenses.

Fortunately, Zhang Yuemei has a friend who is prepared to help.

Dan Dan, 22, who studies at a university in Shandong has put herself up for sale – offering to marry any man who is willing to cough up the £15,000 required for Zhang Yeumei’s treatment

A selfless act of a true friend?

Or, as some cynics have alleged, a selfish ploy, exploiting Zhang Yeumei’s plight to snare herself a rich husband?

Village bachelors build road to romance

by noseycow

Barwaan Kala a virually inaccessible village in the remote Kaimur hills in India, is known locally as the “village of unmarried people” with some 121 bachelors living there.

At the last election they were visited by a politician who promised them “if you elect me I’ll stay a bachelor until we get a road to your village”, but as is the way with politicians, once in office he married, forgetting the village and his promise.

So the villagers have decided to take positive action and are working round the clock at building a 6km road to the next village. full story

by noseycow

I don’t know how I missed this one but it was published last week.

the-cafe2The Times newspaper tells us that the cure for a low libido is to have more sex. In fact it recommends that you agree to have sex each day for a whole year, the downside is that it has to be with your partner!

Tory’s propose marriage prep classes

by noseycow

An interim report released by the Conservative party to help ‘strengthen’ marriage,  would urge the Government to promote ‘marriage preparation classes’, run by churches or charities, which couples would attend to make sure they were ready for the challenges of married life.

The Cafe is contemplating running such courses, for those who are thinking of tying the knot and those who have been shackled for some time. Current suggestions include an 10 week course in Domestic skills for the men, while their partners get to use his credit card to shop for shoes and handbags.

Commitmentphobia

by noseycow

It seems that men prefer to stay at home with mum, rather than tasting the joys of matrimonial bliss.

Tom McCabe runs (expensive?) life coaching seminars thoughtfully titled ‘Would you marry you?’ (answers on a post card please to Noseycow – the ladies loo’s, Carmen’s Cafe).

He said.

‘Men need to do some spiritual work on themselves. Internet porn, advertising and the celebrity culture lead them to sad, unrealistic fantasies about women. I forecast a generation of lonely, angry, disappointed bachelors.’
