Celebrities, Privacy, Media, Injunctions

by duncanr

The media in the UK has been much exercised in recent weeks over legal barriers preventing them from reporting the identity or details of certain ‘celebrities’ who it is alleged have been visiting prostitutes or having affairs behind their wife/partner’s back.

The celebrities in question have obtained injunctions from the courts to prevent their name or details of their indiscretions being made public on the grounds that . . .

Wikileaks : Assessing the Damage

by duncanr

The Pentagon is bracing itself for the expected release later this week by Wikileaks of around 500,000 ‘secret’ documents pertaining to the war in Iraq.

This dwarfs the ‘mere’ 70,000 documents relating to the war in Afghanistan leaked by Wikileaks some months ago.

The leak of the Afghanistan dossier was condemned at the time by some commentators/analysts for putting the lives of service men and women, and afghan informants and collaborators at risk . . .

Out comes the begging bowl…

by noseycow

Less than three weeks after their birth, the mother of the quaduplets has set up a website…

http://www.thenadyasulemanfamily.com/

Having spent the last week recording videos and interviews, stating how “torn” she is wanting to be both at the hospital with her new borns and at home with her other 6 children, she can be forgiven for the simplistic site design.

It has two options – leave a comment or make a donation!

Only in America… or not??? I was gutted to see the trailer advertising a documentary following the story of Laura Williams from her decision to have her conjoined twins through to the sad deaths of both Hope and Faith.

It seems that the media can buy anything nowadays…

Whoops!

by noseycow

An American security consultant, billed as an ‘anti-kidnap expert’  has been kidnapped. Felix Batista had negotiated the release of dozens of kidnap victims in South America before he was ‘taken’ in Mexico.

In the current economic climate, one wonders if it’s the kidnappers or the victim who are trying to ‘cut out the middle man’.

Personal hygiene at KFC

by noseycow

Two workers were sacked from KFC for being too clean. Apparently no one had told them that it was not appropriate for them to use the sinks at work as bath tubs!

Divine Intervention?

by noseycow

The church that our favourite (well rounded, broadminded, socially aware, and intelligent)  hockey mom  politician attends, was the subject of an arson attack which caused extensive damage.

Perhaps some of that damage may have been prevented if the vandals were able to get a decent library book to occupy their time, or if the Governor hadn’t spend her time in office sacking Police officers.

Tension must already be high in the Palin household (which  believes in abstinence only sexual education), as Sarah’s (cough) first grandchild is due any day now.

Bugger – Missed the Bastard !!!

by duncanr

On a surprise visit to Iraq, outgoing (but not soon enough) USA President George W. Bush was forced to duck during a press conference when an Iraqi journalist threw a pair of size 10′s at him.

‘The soles of shoes are considered the ultimate insult in Arab culture.
