We take clean drinking water for granted in the west. We turn on a tap and out it pours.
Not everyone is so fortunate, however. According to WaterAid’s UK site –
“worldwide 5000 children die every day from water-related diseases). In Bangladesh water-related diseases are responsible for 24% of all deaths. Every year, gastroenteritis and diarrhoeal diseases kill 110,000 children below the age of five.”

There is no shortage of surface water in Bangladesh. The problem is it is generally contaminated and not safe to drink. Consequently, villages have been encouraged/assisted in digging tube wells to extract water from underground. Only one drawback to this approach, however . . . .

If you live in the north of Sweden and need medical care, you might want to think twice if the doctor assigned to your case should turn out to be a certain Johanne Krogh.
The 62 yr old Dane previously worked at hospitals in Norway until she lost her right to practice there after 29 cases of malpractice were brought against her.
Her many ‘mistakes’ include performing hip operations on patients that left them with one leg shorter than the other, and storming out of the theatre in a fit of temper half way through an operation.

you'll feel a little prick
Cindy Corton, 35, died after her bum was accidentally impaled by the handle of a toilet brush.
It’s not what you’re thinking –
Cindy had a bit too much to drink at a party, got rat-arsed, asked to go the loo, then fell and impaled herself on the handle of a toilet brush.
That was in 2005.
It took her 2 years to get anyone in the NHS to take her seriously – to believe the handle of the toilet brush was stuck in her buttock.
By that time the handle of the toilet brush had become imbedded in her pelvis. Two operations failed to remove it. A third operation proved fatal.
Cindy’s's husband is now suing the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust.
Jeez, how many years of expensive medical training does it take to spot a 6″ toilet handle stuck in some-one’s arse ???

It’s hard to imagine how it feels to have your arm amputated after being in an accident.
Even harder to imagine how it feels to discover that your arm has been amputated and rings that you wore every day for 40+ years have ‘vanished’ from your severed hand !!!
Yet that’s what happened to great-grandmother Doris Smith, aged 65,
She and her husband were involved in a car accident. As a result of her injuries, Mrs Smith had her arm amputated after admission to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. The severed arm was incinerated less than 24 hours later. However, when Mrs Smith and her family asked about her three rings – which included the wedding and engagement rings she had worn for 48 years – no trace of them could be found. Hospital staff are adamant that there were no rings on the severed hand before it was incinerated. Yet despite an investigation, no one has admitted to removing the rings.

On Mar 23 a fire broke out in a house where 5-year-old Aden Hawes was sleeping. The local fire-chief reckoned a minute longer and he would have died. He was saved by his nanny, Alyson Myatt, who ran barefoot through the flames to rescue him.
The 400 deg flames burned the flesh of the nanny’s feet and she will require skin grafts. She doesn’t have health insurance cover, however, to pay for her hospital treatment. A web site is now raising money to help out – Click here . . .

A man has been pronounced dead after jumping from the 18th Floor of an apartment block.
Witnesses describe him jumping out of a window on the 18th floor and landing on the roof of an adjacent 4 storey building.
That fall didn’t kill him so he jumped off the roof of that building too.
That fall didn’t kill him either and he was rushed to hospital.
Having survived jumping off 2 buildings, his luck finally ran out when the doctors got hold of him and he was later pronounced dead.

It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
One human hair can support 3kg (6.6 lb).
The average man’s penis is three times the length of his thumb.
Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.
A woman’s heart beats faster than a man’s.
There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
Women blink twice as often as men.
The average person’s skin weighs twice as much as the brain.
Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.
If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.
Women reading this will be finished now.
Men are still busy checking their thumbs.

A woman in New Zealand did nothing to dispel the image that women are poor drivers when she ran her husband over – twice.
She was reversing her 4×4 and did not see him behind her.
She also apparently didn’t feel the bump as she ran over him
She then drove the vehicle forward – running over him again !!!
The man was airlifted to hospital with back and head injuries.
His wife was apparently distraught when she realised what she had done
A police spokesperson said they were not treating the incident as suspicious
