Miners cause Australian Floods

by duncanr

Pakistan, Philippines, Australia, Shri Lanka, Brazil have all been hit my massive floods in last few months.

The economic cost of repairing the damage caused will run into billions of pounds. The leader of the Green party in Australia proposes that the coal mining industry should pay for that cost in Queensland since it was their activity that caused the floods

His argument is that . . .

the temperature of the seas around Australia is at a record high and ‘that’s causing the moisture in the air which is leading to these catastrophic floods

And what’s causing this high sea temperature ? – global warming !

And what causes global warning? Well according to the ‘Greens’ leader Bob Brown . .

“It’s the single biggest cause – burning coal – for climate change and it must take its major share of responsibility for the weather events we are seeing unfolding now”

Hhmm, given that ‘global warming’ is a disputed concept, and that even if it is a reality, how much of it can be attributed to burning coal is open to debate, and I think Mr Brown may have a fight on his hand getting the coal mining companies to accept the Queensland floods are their fault
