The Man who Fell to Earth

by duncanr

Some eejit is planning to freefall from the edge of space back to earth later today

Felix Baumgartner will be carried 23 miles above the earth suspended beneath a helium balloon 53 storeys high.

Once he reaches the target height he will Freefall back to Earth. The journey up will take around 3-3.5 hrs. The journey down will take around 5-6 minutes – his body will be travelling faster than the speed of sound!

Baumgartner will be wearing a special protective pressure suit which is fitted with cameras to record the fall as it happens

If you don’t suffer from vertigo, you can watch a live feed of the fall . . .
