Margaret Thatcher was either loved or loathed
A group of conservative MPs (who clearly belong in the former category) are trying to push a private members bill through parliament to have the August Bank Holiday Monday in the UK renamed ‘Margaret Thatcher Day’
As one of thousands who took to the streets chanting ‘Maggie, Maggie, Maggie – Out, Out, Out!‘ when she was in power, it will be no surprise that I am against naming a national holiday after someone who caused great divisions in the country.
And it seems I am not alone here – thousands have already signed an online petition opposing the proposal to rename the August Bank Holiday ‘Margaret Thatcher Day’
