Something for the Weekend – No 233

by duncanr

I’ve posted this song before here but am minded to do so again following the recent kerfuffle after Facebook banned posting one of the most famous iconic photographs documenting the suffering and horror of the Vietnam war on the grounds it was child pornography

if you want to listen again to previous weekend songs, go to the ‘category filter’ on the side bar and select ‘something for weekend’ from the drop down list

feel free, too, to share a sample of what you are listening to this weekend in a comment to this post

  1. Ewan McColl had a fine, powerful voice. It’s a serious song, but sometimes seriousness is called for.

  2. Ewan MacColl wrote some great songs – this one has a topical resonance for folk living near me these past few weeks who have been moaning about an influx of ‘travellers’ stopping for a few days in local parks/areas of grassland before being moved on by police only to appear back a few days later

  3. then there’s this classic – though many have recorded it, this (at least to my mind) is the best ever version
