Shamrock is a Twat

by duncanr

I love being retired – but while I’m enjoying living life at a more leisurely pace, retired racehorses, it seems, do not adjust so readily to life in the slow lane . . .

  1. Horses, eh?

Steer well clear of the buggers is my advice.

This reminds me of an evening about 12 years ago when my daughter went to a friend’s farm to try out a prospective new pony.

It was a nice enough thing, seemingly well-behaved, but with enough life about it to offer potential to do well n competitions, and be fun to ride.

Jenna got on it and set off around their school to try out all the usual horse-buying stuff – walk, trot, canter, go over a couple of small jumps etc.

All went well until she tried to get the bloody thing to slow down out of canter. Would it stop? Would it bollocks.

It must have done about 12 laps of the bloody menage with four of us trying to get in its way and grab the bugger before it finally gave in with a smug snort and an evil gleam in its eye.
