They moved the gravestones, but they didn’t move the bodies

An 1876 map showing Laurel Cemetery.

It was an historic Baltimore, Maryland, cemetery, dating back to 1852, full of famous names and firsts. Businessmen decided on a mini-mall, instead, and moved in for a real estate kill. They promised to relocate all remains. They didn’t.

Today, hundreds upon hundreds of bodies lie desecrated under a dirty parking lot and a line of discount stores and no one’s doing a damned thing about it. Why?

The cemetery was for black people. Who better be haunting the SHIT outta that place.
