  1. same in Scotland – we took our dinner money to school to pay for our school dinners (mid-day meal), which was served to us by ‘dinner ladies’, then between 5-6pm had our tea (main meal of the day) at home with our parents

    even though I’ve lived in the Midlands area of England for 30+ years now, the meals my friends down here refer to as lunch and dinner I still call dinner and tea – [admittedly, this does occasionally cause a bit of confusion at times when arranging to meet up]
