I first learnt about Lucy, a young chimp reared by an american couple in their home as part of their family and taught to communicate with her human ‘parents’ via American Sign Language (ASL) when I was a Psychology student in the ’70s and was both fascinated by her story and yet sad at the same time that she had been taken from the wild and forced to live in an un-natural environment

delighted then to stumble across this video this morning and learn that she did not die in captivity but was set free and allowed to live the rest of her life in the wild with the companionship of other chimps
