Dogs on the Streets

by duncanr

A loyal dog who’s homeless owner was lying dead on the streets of London stayed by his side for up to 12 hours after he passed away – helping police to identify him.

the rough sleeper, Nick, had no identification on him when police found his body but, fortunately, he had registered his dog (Scarper) with the charity Dogs on the Streets (DOTS) who were able to pull his details from their database via the unique tag number on the dog’s collar

(Scarper has now gone to . . .

live with Nick’s mum) – full story

DOTS maintains a database of homeless folk and their dogs, and once a week visits different locations offering free health checks and vet care, food, bedding, and training – and if a homeless person needs to go into hospital, DOTS will foster their dog while they are hospitalised
