In southern Tuscany, there is a mysterious network of old pathways deeply entranced into massive rocks appearing like narrow canyons flanked by stone walls, some of which rise up to twenty meters tall . . . Chisel marks are visible all over the rocky surface indicating the laborious process by which these passages were excavated, but for what purpose is a mystery

  1. Tuscany was a very windy place in days of yore and they tunneled into the ground to provide shelter on their way to the loo. Obvious.
