The first rule of Mensa is you do NOT talk about Mensa

by allthoughtswork

Because if you do, the odds are pretty high you’re just angling for narcissistic points, which will get you punched. But a smart person would know that.

As a smarty-pants, myself, I qualified for all sorts of smarty-pants accolades and honors up through college. I started to collect them until I realized it yielded me less than nothing: The paradox of being a good student is that you only really rack up points with academics who have no power to improve your life situation unless you want to become one of them. Ivy doesn’t just grow on the buildings in those boring-ass establishments.

Tests tell you what sort of student you’ve been, not what sort of person you’ll be.
