How does your kitchen compare to 1949 state of the art?

I gotta say, a lot of these ideas need to happen at my place, like the giant revolving corner shelves and the garbage bin that can be emptied from outside, if only I could figure out how to insulate it properly.

But the unsealed bins of sugar and flour and the spices getting steamed by the stove every day kinda freak me out.
