Aftermath of the protests in downtown Portland, Oregon

by allthoughtswork

Jaysus, I had no idea it was this bad.

Governor Brown said “the rioting and looting is the product of a small group of instigators rather than indicative of broader sentiment.” Well, that small group was as strong as the Hulk and as fast as the Flash to cover so many city blocks.

Most of these businesses are still closed due to COVID-19 and are struggling mightily. You know damned well they’ll close stores and lay off even more employees to cover damages.

“You have to dominate. If you don’t dominate, you’re wasting your time. They’re going to run over you. You’re going to look like a bunch of jerks. You have to dominate.”

That’s a Trump quote. Think about that.

  1. We’re on our 6th day of protests and clashes with the police now. I’m sure thankful I don’t live anywhere near downtown.

  2. The BBC should remove its head from its arse and do a little reporting. Violence did not “fall” after Monday, it escalated in Portland to the point of curfews, injuries, vandalism, looting and SWAT teams.

I’d call that a little more than “reports of tear gas being fired.” Wankers.

  3. I meant to ask whether you’d managed to get yourself involved in any rootin’ tootin’ lootin’ and other such stuff.

Of course, on this side of the Atlantic, we’re much more laid back about protesting.
