Brits surf the River Severn bore

by allthoughtswork

Hundreds of spectators line the banks of the river Severn in Gloucestershire to watch surfers and kayakers riding a 4 star bore, September 30 2019. Bores are rated up to five and reach their highest peaks due to many factors including when the moon is closest overhead.

Fewer shark attacks, but a much higher chance of swallowing farm runoff. Surf bums must pick their battles.

One-Liner Wednesday — #37

by allthoughtswork

“It’s funny, I had a hunter last year or the year before, he asked me, we were out on a mountain and he said, ‘What do you carry in your pack for survival gear?’ I didn’t really know how to answer the question at first because I didn’t have…anything. And I said to him, ‘I don’t survive out here, I live out here. This is home, out here.”

Lava meditation

by allthoughtswork

I’m dying to see lava up close, hear it, smell it, respect it. Vulcanology nut.

That glassy crackling, alone, is sexy.

I’m with Britain on this one

by allthoughtswork

A new friend just gave me a dozen fresh eggs from her free range farm. And I don’t mean free range the way the USDA defines it, I mean chickens actually out in real grass and fuckin’ fresh air, 24/7. I saw them, I petted them, I held one. Chickens are like feathered Xanax, they’re adorable.

She practices the British method of egg storage. The eggs tasted amazing and the yolks were orange, not yellow, case closed.
