African proverbs

A man whose neighbour has a small loincloth knows that the end is in sight

Obviously, we all know that this proverb is attributed to the late Nelson Mandela (not the South African one, but a Ugandan bloke who used to run a hardware shop on Cheetham Hill Road in Manchester).

The thing is – there must be hundreds of similar African Proverbs kicking around and going to waste. Can I rely on you lot to print them here so they can enrich the lives of other readers?

What comes after a Trillion?

Zimbabwe has just introduced a$100 trillion bank note, which was worth around US $33 when it was first printed.

The Telegraph does not make clear whether it is a long scale or a short scale trillion, either way with the current rate of inflation it probably won’t be enough to buy a loaf of bread by the end of the week.

A young (very!) couple from Germany have been stopped by a bunch old spoilsport police, whilst trying to get married somewhere warmer than Hanover.
