Railway Pilgrimage in Pakistan

by duncanr

Occasionally, I post a link to a blog post I’ve enjoyed reading and think others might do so too

this morning, I recommend you have a look at this post by Annie Ali Khan documenting her journey on the Khyber Mail train – it’s a good read and includes some great pics

sikh special train

Runny Porridge

by duncanr

runny porageQ: . . . what are your inspirations?

RP: Oh, I read the news over breakfast. Then I go for a poo and a think. So when I come back I’m actually more full of shit than when I went.

Q: How does the creative process work for you then?

RP: I pick a topic, start typing and insert as many stereotypes into the article as possible and then make up some more stuff as I go along. If it makes sense at all, that’s purely accidental. Sometimes I check the facts, if they’ve crept in I delete them. I believe it’s how professionals do it.

Every now and again, I recommend you read a blog I’ve stumbled upon. The above is an excerpt from the About page of Runny Porridge’s blog on WordPress

for a flavour of what he’s about, start with this post –

This morning I saw Joy for the first time since Christmas. I was so glad to see her. When I sat down beside her I noticed that she had a black eye and other bruises on her face. I put my arm around her and said . . .

If you have a favourite blog that you think deserves more visitors, post a link to it in the comment section of this post and in the coming weeks we’ll give it some publicity here on MadHatters. I’m thinking of a feature similar to the ‘Something for the Weekend’ posts in which we put up some music clips for folk to listen to. This would be ‘Something to Read’ over the weekend

To start things off . . .
