A Life line for Oscar

by duncanr

there are so many arseholes in the world, it’s nice to be reminded now and again that there are good folk around too

Oscar is 5 year old but unless a stem-cell match is found in the next 3 months, he will not live to see his 6th birthday

heartening then to see almost 5,000 strangers queueing for hours in the rain to see if

Bra-less Breasts are Better?

by duncanr

bras are apparently injurious to a woman’s health – they would have perkier breasts and be less likely to suffer breast cancer, it is claimed, if they ditched those bras – http://tinyurl.com/yc5fp35w

[hhmmm, might want to treat the claim of a supposed causative link between wearing a bra and risk of breast cancer with a degree of skepticism – a woman’s choice not to wear a bra may well be associated with other life choices that differ from those of women who do, and it is one or more of these that affect the occurrence of breast cancer rather than bra wearing or not per se

There’s Gaffers, and there’s Gaffers

by duncanr

Terry Wogan R.I.P.

by duncanr

Sir Terry Wogan’s family have announced his death following a short battle against cancer

many will remember him for his radio show, his fronting of BBC Children in Need Appeal, or his commentary on the Eurovision Song contest

for me, the only reason to watch the drivel that is Eurovision was Terry’s witty and withering comments on the acts, songs, and voting

couldn’t find a clip to illustrate this but here’s a clip of his appearance on another show that captures the man’s impish sense of humour
