Ticketmaster, you slimy bitch

The Rock and Roll Guru: Ticketmaster Got It Wrong Again - And That Doesn't Surprise Anyone

A quiet rewording of their refund policy and Ticketmaster, the most reviled organization among live music lovers everywhere, just took its hateability to an eleven.

Yup, suddenly, you can’t get a refund for all those concerts postponed due to coronavirus unless the event organizers are offering the refunds, themselves.

Ticketbastard tried to claim it’s always done it that way that but I guess they forgot about screensaver apps. The internet is forever, assholes.

Sign Language Like Wot it Ought to Be

by duncanr

Undoubtedly,  the death of Nelson Mandela has dominated the news this past week. While a sad occasion, it was not without some humorous incidents – not least, the chancer who flapped his arms around pretending to be interpreting events for the deaf – (see Bad Signs)

If you want to see what ‘real’ signing looks like, watch this video

5 yr old Claire Koch’s parents are both deaf – but she makes sure they enjoy the school concert by ‘signing’ the xmas songs for them

The Kindness of Strangers

Patrick Connelly loves country music

His mother and sister took him to see one of his favourite C&W singers, Blake Shelton, in concert.

But Patrick, who cannot stand and is confined to a wheelchair, became upset because he couldn’t see the stage for the people in front of him

And that’s when this happened . . .

Excellent Horse-like lady

by NobblySan

No…. guess again, you lot – I’m not referring to the Duchess of Cornwall.

This is in fact the catchy title of a bit of classic chart-topping pop from the one and only Hyon Song-wol, who may (or possibly may not) be the latest legover recipient from that famous fun-loving chubster Kim Jong-un.

If you’re really interested, you can hear all about this excellent lady and her horse-like tendencies here. I wouldn’t recommend it though…for ’tis indeed shite, and to quote the master of talent spotting TV shows ” …we mean that most sincerely, folks.”

Pepsi Sponsors Anti-Gay Concert

by duncanr

. . . Homosexuality is currently punishable with lifetime imprisonment (in Uganda). A new proposal before Parliament affirms that punishment while expanding the definition of homosexuality. It also provides for the death sentence under certain circumstances and outlaws all advocacy or defense of LGBT people with seven years imprisonment. Failure to report LGBT people to police will result in punishment of three years imprisonment . . (Box Turtle Bulletin)

. . . This past year, Uganda has experienced a round of public vigilantism, in which accused LGBT people were publicly identified in a major tabloid newspaper and on radio and television. That was followed with reports of arrests, blackmail and extra-judicial torture . . (Box Turtle Bulletin)

Jamaican ‘Beenie Man’ performed in concert last Saturday at Kampala’s Kyadondo Rugby Club. According to The Daily Monitor, the singer – both in songs and in talk – voiced anti-gay sentiments, e.g., ‘he would like to cut the throats of all Gay men’

The concert was sponsored by Pepsi-Cola who are now busily engaged on a damage-limitation exercise

. . . We are appalled by the performer’s lyrics and find them repugnant. Our bottling partner in Uganda was not aware of the performer’s views and never would have sponsored the concert with this knowledge. Moving forward, we will work closely with our bottling partners to be more vigilant about the events associated with our brands . . . (statement from Pepsi spokesperson)
