Crafty Cops

in the UK, the penalty for using a phone while driving has recently been made more severe – if caught doing so, the miscreant can be banned from driving or fined up to £1000 with six points on their license

despite this, every day I see folk driving with one hand on the wheel, the other with a phone glued to their ear because the risk of actually being caught is so low

what’s needed is for police forces across the country to adopt this cunning plan employed by Devon police –

now a road in Devon has collapsed because, it is claimed, of badgers burrowing under the road

Name that Beaver

beaverDevon Wildfire Trust* is asking the public for suggestions as to what to call their new Beaver mascot

the Trust, however, has made it clear the winning name will not be the one that garners the most votes but will be chosen by the Trust to weed out rude, frivolous suggestions that do not reflect the serious tone they are seeking to project –

All in a Day’s Work

Teignmouth Lifeboat crew in Devon were called out when a labrador dog was swept out to see at Babbacombe Pier

the dog was later found at the foot of a cliff where it had managed to pull itself out of the water

while one crew member scrambled on to the rocks to comfort the dog and secure it with a rope the rest of the crew tried to bring the boat in close enough to effect a rescue
