Symphysiotomy : Fucken Religion

by duncanr

I’ve been two days trying to write this post but have been too upset/angry to marshall my thoughts into a coherent pattern

that doctors, in this day and age, are sawing women in two rather than perform a Caesarian because the former will potentially allow them to have more children in future (in line with the Catholic church goals for families) than will the latter – though tell that to ‘Lily’, who has been unable to have sex with her husband since her pelvis was sawn in two – leaves me speechless with rage

you can read more about this barbaric practice here – http://tinyurl.com/plb6md7

Dementia Diagnose Reward

by duncanr

wanted poster£55there is some concern in the UK that dementia sufferers are not being diagnosed early enough so someone had the bright idea of offering GPs (family doctors) £55 for every person diagnosed with dementia

some folk, though, think this is ethically wrong – http://tinyurl.com/k8tjrqp

Me ?

I’ve made a mental note not to visit my GP about that pesky ingrown toenail lest the greedy bugger turns me in for that £55 !

now where was I ?

Doctors Coordinate of Damascus

by duncanr

They have organised themselves into cells operating independently of one another so that if member of one cell is captured and tortured only their own cell will be compromised – they will not be able to pass on any information that would endanger other cells.

It is very dangerous. In the beginning we were afraid to work. But . . . Our role, as doctors, is to treat the injured, whoever they are . . . We set up field hospitals in basements, farms, abandoned building, even cars . . . So far I believe 54 medical staff have been killed, including nurses, doctors and medical students.

What motivates me? My honour, my duty as a doctor.

When we graduated from medical school we took the Hippocratic oath. And the way that I was raised, my religion, everything. I’m part of the human race, and I need to honour this oath, as a doctor and as a human.

If at First . . .

Oops !!!

Spare a thought for an 86 yr old Peruvian man.

Doctors amputated his left leg to prevent the infection from an ulcer spreading. Only problem – the ulcer was on his right leg, not the left. Not to worry, though. They spotted their mistake and amputated his right leg too

P.S. the doctors have been suspended pending an enquiry

Doctors can mend a broken heart

by noseycow

the-cafe31US researchers studied 70 patients with “broken heart syndrome”, a recognised condition linked to stressful or emotional events.

All these patients recovered, most after being given aspirin or heart drugs, even though 20% were deemed critically ill.

The American Journal of Cardiology study says the condition is probably caused by a surge in stress hormones.  Full BBC article

Can we assume that some doctors have a higher rate of  success than others?
