Holi 2015

Holi, the Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of spring and the vanquishing of evil by good, dark by light, falls today this year

the festival is a riot of colour as family, friends, neighbours, and strangers douse one another with coloured powders and water

everyone joins in the fun – even these kids !

The weather, at long last, seems to have turned in the UK and I was able to give my grass the 1st cut of the year on Saturday – as did my neighbour, too

Hindus have a more colourful way of marking the arrival of Spring than mowing the lawn

During Holi, friends and strangers daub each other with colour. You’ll find plenty of images on Google or videos on youtube showing the exuberant celebration that is Holi. But today, I want to share with you this video of some kids joining in the fun

Custard Fight Ban no Yolk

On June 9, the town is staging the Bakewell Baking Festival. The event is open to all comers (stop sniggering!) and the climax (I’m warning you!) was to be a Custard Pie Fight.

Three Emirati men were thrown out of a festival in Saudia Arabia and put on a plane back to the UAE because the country’s religious police deemed them to be ‘too handsome’ and feared women would be attracted to them

Trojan T-shirts Trick Neo-Nazis

There’s some red-faced Neo-Nazis in Germany right now 😳

There’s also some sneaky anti-fascists chortling with glee 😆

The Neo-Naziz were quite chuffed at the free t-shirts handed out at a recent Festival for fascist b*stards. The t-shirts were printed with the words “hardcore rebels” along with a skull and nationalist flags.

However, when the t-shirts were washed . . .
