It’s not nice to laugh at the embarrassment, discomfort of others but perhaps a small smile is permissible at this news . . .

As a rising star in Hungary’s far-right Jobbik Party, Csanad Szegedi was notorious for his incendiary comments on Jews: He accused them of “buying up” the country, railed about the “Jewishness” of the political elite and claimed Jews were desecrating national symbols.

A tad awkward then for Szegedic to discover he, himself, is a Jew.

Homelessness Illegal in Hungary

With around 10,000 people reckoned to be homeless in Budapest, Hungary’s lawmakers have come up with a novel way to give them a room over their head – imprison them !

A new law makes homelesslessness a crime punishable by a fine or imprisonment.

I think it is safe to say that if the homeless could afford to pay the new fine they would . . .
