by duncanr

15231-large_2520Meacham35 yr old Trestin Meacham is so upset that same-sex marriages are legal in the state of Ohio that he has gone on hunger strike until gay couples in Ohio are banned from marrying

I cannot stand by and do nothing while this evil takes root in my home . . . Some things in life are worth sacrificing one’s health and even life if necessary (

Hhmmm, one less homophobe in the world isn’t going to make much difference but – hey, it’s a start ! 😉

Catch 22?

by NobblySan

Convicted child murderer Ian Brady, he of  moors murders notoriety, wishes to be diagnosed as sane in order that he can be returned to prison. He is currently held in a secure psychiatric hospital, where, as he has been sectioned under the mental health act, he can be force fed to counteract the effects of his 13 years old hunger strike.

If returned to prison he can refuse food, not be legally force fed, and hence achieve his wish to be allowed to die.

In order for this to happen, the mental health tribunal must declare him sane; with the main thrust of his case being that he wishes to be declared sane so that he can starve himself to death.

Am I the only one who reckons that expressing a wish to be declared sane for this reason is a sure sign of insanity?

Tamil Takeaway

by duncanr

Tamil Takeaway = Tamil Taking the Piss

D 97972-03For weeks Parameswaran Subramaniyan staged a ‘hunger strike’ outside the Houses of Parliament as part of a protest against the Sri Lankan Governments campaign to crush the Tamil Tigers.

It has now been revealed that the hunger strike was a sham – that police surveillance cameras recorded Parameswaran Subramaniyan secretly eating burgers smuggled into him as he sat in the tent he pitched in the street.

It has also been revealed that the Police ran up a £10million overtime bill during the protest.

Apparently the police decided not to bring the protest to an end by exposing the ‘hunger strike’ as a sham and dragging Parameswaran Subramaniyan out of his tent for fear this would spur more unrest.

Well that’s all right then – for a moment there I thought it might have had something to do with that lovely overtime money !!!
