It’s a good idea in principle but offering to lend customers a £6.85 product for £2.20 with no penalty for non-return of said product is perhaps not the most sensible business plan

Bihar: Man fails to pay Rs 300, has hand chopped off

20 yr old Ram Sagar Chandravanshi paid a heavy price when he was unable to repay a 300 rupee (£3.82 or $6.06) loan. Upon refusing to work for free to clear the debt, he was seized by the money-lender’s henchmen and one hand severed, the other severely damaged.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has created a special task Force to investigate this incident after local police dismissed Chandravanshi’s story

If you’re struggling to make ends meet in the current economic climate, imagine how much more difficult it is for Ram Sagar Chandravanshi and others like him. I don’t suppose there’s much work for a labourer with only one hand !

Bank Robber offered a Loan

Fifty-nine-year-old Mark Smith held up a bank in Watsonville, California – demanding $2000 (a very modest sum, indeed) or he would detonate a bomb he was carrying in his backpack
