have to confess I’m not much interested in the Olympic Games currently being held in Rio – what little I’ve seen of it has been when i’ve been round at girlfriends house (she’s a massive fan)

there are some new events in these olympics, e.g. speed weightlifting, russian relay, equestrian (sneaky), safety gymnastics

of course, adding new events to the Olympics is nothing new

AOC Strips Nudists of Title

nude olympicsThe Maslin Beach Nude Olympics have been running since 1983 – [I dread to think what the pole vaulting event entails; and as for the baton exchange in the Men’s 400 metre relay? Well, all I can say is they better be careful what they grab !!!] 😯

The AOC (Australian Olympic Committee) has now stepped in, however, to strip organisers of the right to use the word ‘Olympics’ when advertising their event.

NASA vs NBC

Because of the distance involved, NASA scientists have to wait 14 minutes to find out what’s happening on Mars (14 minutes being the time taken for information travelling at the speed of light to cover the distance between Mars and the Earth – which is pretty good really, when compared to how long they have to wait for NBC to show them what’s happening at the London Olympics
