Bats drinking from hummingbird feeders

by allthoughtswork

This is my favorite live cam, I check it several times a day, it’s far more interesting than the news.

Early on in the night, colonies of fruit bats flutter around the hummingbird feeders. You can get a better look at them if you slow the speed down by half. You can also track backwards along the bottom progress bar to see who’s been at the feeder earlier in the day.

Cure for winter: Live jungle wildlife cam

by allthoughtswork

I am frickin’ addicted to this site. It is my morning news, my background music at the office, and the last thing I check at night, because fruit bats.

I’ve seen iridescent blue Morpho butterflies, hot purple honey creepers, and two kinds of opossum. Because toucan play at the marsupial game.

Fly Pigeon

by duncanr

A Racing pigeon – aptly named ‘Houdini’ – disappeared during a race from Guernsey, in the Channel islands to it’s ‘home’ in Dudley, West Midlands.

The journey should have taken Houdini around 6 hours, but she never showed up and her owner, Darren Cubberly, had given her up for lost – until he received a call from Panama City.

Seems Houdini – the crafty bugger – swung a left instead of a right, and hitched a ride on a ship to cross the 5,200 miles of Atlantic ocean to arrive at Panama City

Hhmm, today’s weather forecast for Dudley is a high of 16 deg C. Today’s weather forecast for Panama City is a high of 27 deg C. There’s a few more Dudley residents would make the same choice as Houdini if given half a chance !
