The UK Government is concerned about ‘binge drinking’ and believes Supermarkets contribute to the problem by selling cheap booze, hence their proposal to introduce a minimum selling price for alcohol in stores. Pubs too are in their sights, with their ‘happy hours’ and other cheap/free alcohol deals
Strangely absent from this discussion is any suggestion that they might curtail their own accessibility to cheap booze – though a recent late night fracas involving a drunk MP suggest some action in this area might well be appropriate!
