Two interviews

by NobblySan

I heard two interviews on this morning’s Radio 5 breakfast programme that made me smile.

The first was with George Osborne – wanabee Chancellor of the Exchequer.

You get used to politicians evading the issue and dodging awkward lines of questioning, they all do it, and to some extent they all have to do it. It’s all part of the game, and there are ways and means of doing it that seasoned pro politicians can carry off beautifully.

But this character… he was absolutly clueless.

OK, he managed to skirt round the issues and questions that Nicky Campbell put to him, but in such an amateur and hamfisted way that I was gobsmacked. He ‘ummmed’, he ‘errrrrmed’, and he generally bumbled and farted about. I could almost imagine him staring at his feet and shuffling nervously in his seat, as would a schoolboy (Etonian, naturally) up in front of the Headmaster. After all this unprofessional waffling, he then resorted to trotting out a couple of carefully prepared lines that appeared to have been learnt ‘parrot fashion’.

Do I fancy the idea of this chap as the next chancellor?  No, I do not.

I’m not that keen on the eejit that we’ve currently got, but at least he can act out his role in a professional manner.

The second interview was about 30 minutes later, with Paul Gambaccini, talking about Radio2.

He spoke from the heart, he spoke with passion, and boy! …..did he lay into Russell Brand. If you manage to catch this interview on a podcast or on the beeb’s i-player, then do so.
