Crime Wave set to hit Switzerland

by duncanr

Remember those old westerns on TV – and the Wanted – Dead or Alive posters ?

Law enforcement agencies in many countries have long sought the public’s help in locating and apprehending villains or those they are anxious to speak to

In the early days, these were artistic drawings based on eye witness reports and often had a cartoonish look to them

Then technology advanced and police started issuing ‘photokit’ images of those they wanted the publics’ help in identifying, locating and apprehending

Next came the ubiquitous CCTV cameras, making the lot of the police a little bit easier since they could now release CCTV footage of villains caught in the act to help locate and capture them

Then along came Switzerland to throw a spanner in the works. Apparently broadcasting CCTV footage of a man with a gun in one hand and a sack in the other as he robs a bank is an invasion of his right to privacy – to protect that privacy the media have blurred the face of a man appearing in CCTV footage police released to prevent his being recognized and his right to privacy violated

I think it’s safe to say a policeman’s lot in Switzerland is not an ‘appy one

Meanwhile, expect an influx of criminals heading for Switzerland !!!

The celebrities in question have obtained injunctions from the courts to prevent their name or details of their indiscretions being made public on the grounds that . . .

UK Super Injuction Rap

by duncanr

Increasingly of late, the rich and famous in the UK who have been up to no good (e.g. married men having affairs or paying for sex with prostitues) have been obtaining injunctions from the courts to prevent the media disclosing any information about their indiscretions.

Meanwhile, while the media is banned by law from disclosing the identity of these misbehaving celebrities, the injunctions have been made to appear irrelevant as individuals turn to the internet to publish the names of the celebrities who have taken out these injunctions

Dan Bull here offers his own take on the issue
