A Narrow Escape

this video – recorded by a wheelchair-bound man (which is why he could not himself help) – captures the moment an elderly couple in their 70s were caught by a wave and swept out to sea and the attempt of a stranger to rescue them

the video leaves us hanging but all 3 were pulled from the sea, alive, with the help of a couple of other men who came to their rescue

All in a Day’s Work

Teignmouth Lifeboat crew in Devon were called out when a labrador dog was swept out to see at Babbacombe Pier

the dog was later found at the foot of a cliff where it had managed to pull itself out of the water

while one crew member scrambled on to the rocks to comfort the dog and secure it with a rope the rest of the crew tried to bring the boat in close enough to effect a rescue

she said it was an accident – she wasn’t used to having a baby in tow when she went shopping and simply forgot I was with her
