I owe my deformity to Payless Shoes

by allthoughtswork

Image result for 1980s flats shoes

Ah, memories of cramming my fast-growing teen-aged feet into 80s flats designed for anorexic insects. An essential aspect of every girl’s wardrobe back then was four thousand pairs of shoes in three thousand colors and Payless made it all possible at $8 a pop.

(sigh) Payless may have gone the way of Blockbuster (my first job, and I wore those flats) but my crooked second toe is forever.  Fuck you, Payless, I love you!

Contrite or Not?

by duncanr

TV reporter Muntazer al-Zaidi shot to world wide fame (and acclamation) when he called George Bush ‘a dog’ and threw his shoes at him during a joint TV Interview featuring the American President and the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

Yasin Majeed, the media adviser to the Iraqi prime minister, said yesterday that Zaidi has sent the prime minister a letter of contrition.

On the left, a pair of black leather laceup mens shoes by Gucci – size 10 – that will set you back £360

On the right, a pair of brown leather laceups – size 10 – similar (?) to those thrown at George Bush by Iraqi journalist, Muntadar al-Zaidi.

According to unconfirmed newspaper reports, the former coach of the Iraqi national football team, Adnan Hamad, has offered $100,000 (£65,000) for the (latter) shoes, while a Saudi citizen has apparently offered $10m (£6.5m).
