this is a novel idea – interesting to see if trial is judged a success and the scheme is then rolled out more widely

The Law’s an Ass

by duncanr

the law is an asswell, some practitioners of it anyway . . .

a judge in Texas instructed a jury hearing the case of a womam accused of trafficking a teen girl for sex to find the defendant ‘not guilty’ because GOD had spoken to him directly and told him she was innocent

the jurors, however, ignored the judge’s instruction and – based on the evidence presented to them in court – found her guilty ( )

p.s. GOD’s intervention on behalf of the defendant might have carried more weight if he had spoken to the jurors instead of the judge?

Let Sleeping Judges Lie

by duncanr

Apparently, in the Swedish legal system, lay judges take the place of juries and they, along with the professional judge sitting on the case, decide whether a defendant is innocent or guilty.

That being so, a top civil servant accused of fraud must have been slightly perturbed to notice one of the lay judges at his trial was having difficulty keeping awake.

Fortunately for him, he was acquitted – though the proceedings had to be halted twice because one of the lay judges was sleeping

Seems in this case the law was not only blind but blind, deaf, and dumb (apart from the snores)

Would you open your legs wide to show him your vagina?

Would you believe him when he told you taking photographs of your vagina was a form of ‘alternative medicine’ designed to cure your anorexia ?

Would you . . .

Above the law.

Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan

Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan

Does anyone remember this?

Well, believe it or not – here is the outcome.

It turns out that although this shifty sheikh was filmed torturing a grain merchant who lost his $5000 consignment of grain, he was actually unaware of his actions as he’d been drugged by another couple of shifties.

The drugee is free to continue his extravagant lifestyle, and the druggers are now behind bars.

Do we believe it, kiddies?

Do we bollocks!
